The nectar of enough
Breathing in and breathing out
knowing I am
breathing in and breathing out
remembering:
This blog is a place to cultivate conversations that matter and to re-imagine work, together.
The Nectar of Enough
I embrace
the meditation
of limitation.
I imbibe
the nectar
of enough.
I breathe in
the fragrance
of contraction,
giving form
to the formless,
balance
to the expansive universe
I am.
This is a photograph of work
by the artist Nam June Paik
from a 2011 exhibit at the National Gallery of Art ©.
It was photographed by NGA photographer Rob Shelley. The poem is one of mine.
In that installation—
inside this artist’s work—
some magic happened—
I saw my own work differently:
felt joy in my life that was so sweet,
ambrosial—
candles were burning as part of the art-work—
I could almost smell rare incense—
I felt at ease,
at home in my own life,
ready for courageous engagement with the world,
knowing the only thing that makes sense is radical kindness
and
learning to listen deeply to each other,
breathing in and breathing out,
coming home to myself,
I embodied my own poem in a way I had never known before.
Art can do that sometimes.
As for the poem and the picture, some things just belong together.
May joy light up your steps and peace illuminate your path.
Wishing you a new year filled with the nectar of enough.
Be well.
